You Should Wear a Pink Hat

Cold Cute Face Fashion Female Girl Happy H

Time Magazine’s cover for its February 8th issue is just one, pink, knitted hat with the words”The Resistance Rises” written above it. An estimated 500,000 women wore pink hats at the Women’s March in Washington on January 21, 2017. Listed below are eight strong reasons why you should wear a pink hat (and have a stand against sex and race discrimination in different ways).

1. So much has changed and yet so much remains stuck at the nostalgia of some other era. (Brigid Schulte, writer of Overwhelmed: Work, Love, and Play When No One Has the Time)

2. The hard-won rights for women and girls that many of us now take for granted could be snatched away. Culturally, those rights are very shallowly embedded. They haven’t been around that long, historically, and they are not fervently believed in by everyone in the culture.

3. We are in new historic territory… Many countless horrified Americans are starting to grasp that we can not politely stand by watching families, lands and liberties get slashed beyond repair… politeness isn’t a substitute for morality, and will not save us at the end. We only get to choose who we are. As a writer and a person my bedrock is perennial hope for a better world than this one… (Barbara Kingsolver, American novelist, essayist, and poet, in an op-ed piece published in The Guardian)

4. We’re here and around the world for a profound democracy that says we will not be quiet, we will not be controlled, we’ll work for a world where all countries are connected. God may be in the details, but the goddess is in connections. We’re at one with each other. We are looking at each other, not up. No more asking daddy. (Gloria Steinem in the Women’s March in Washington)

5. The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) states that based on the small incremental changes Canada has made in gender equality at the senior management level over the last 20 years, it is going to take 228 years to close the gender gap in Canada. (I don’t know what the information is from the U.S. but it’s likely similar.)

6. A 2015 study from LeanIn.Org and McKinsey & Company looked at data on promotion and attrition rates (as well as other aspects) in 118 different companies. Black, Hispanic, and Asian women are 43% more interested in becoming a top executive compared to white girls and 16% more interested than white men, but at a 2016″Women in the Workplace” study, researchers found that only 3% of those inhabiting the C-Suite are women of colour.

7. Women face sexual harassment in the workplace and they experience difficulties when they come forward. For each woman who complains, there are still many more girls who have left jobs, been demoted, or continue to be abused or harassed in the work place.

After working in education for 28 years, I’ve concluded that there is no such thing as a meritocracy, there’s absolutely no level playing field for women in regards to getting promoted to senior leadership positions, and the glass ceiling is alive and well in North America and in other parts of the world. Gender equality has not been completely achieved and women’s rights initiatives and quotas are totally relevant and even essential in today’s world.

Studies have identified that common barriers to girls who try to achieve senior leadership positions are traditional, patriarchal cultures, and perceived male dominance of management, but no uniform”glass” or”concrete” ceilings emerge because they are not consistent across cultures or societies, nor are they homogenous within each society or civilization.

The barriers experienced by women depend on religious and cultural beliefs and values, psychological dimensions, socio-economic and political factors. Not at all Squirrel Poop.

Young Females in Public Schools

Beautiful, Young, Girl, Women, Lay

This is the story of a public school failing to encourage the psychological, social, and emotional development of young females. There is an argument to be made that the impact on young males is similarly damaging, but, for this article, I will be focusing on the feminine aspect.

My first criticism is about a policy which was initiated by the school principal. He instituted a policy wherein students weren’t allowed to assemble in more than groups of 2, and weren’t allowed to walk and talk on the playground at recess. All children were required to be actively engaging in a game or recognized action, and were banned from just chatting together.

This policy directly targeted the female population, as evidenced by the walking-and-talking behaviour being a mostly female socialization method (with men primarily interacting through shared activities.) If this commonly recognized developmental truth is not enough evidence of this sex-based discriminatory nature of the policy, my daughter reports that the principal made an announcement to the classrooms when the ban was lifted. His announcement threatened that the ban would be reinstated if there was”any more woman drama.” There were many witnesses to this announcement.

His imposed restriction and subsequent comment were directly prohibitive to the natural development of a young female. My daughter was forced to choose which one of her several good friends she wanted to associate with for the afternoon, and was also prohibited from engaging in bonding conversation with this kind of friend. This was cause for her to experience anxiety.

My second complaint will involve my daughter’s experiences with her fifth-grade teachers. Not Boca Raton Wildlife Removal

My daughter’s original fifth grade teacher was reported by my daughter to have a very rigorous and intimidating demeanor. As a very sensitive child – and with high expectations for herself – my daughter would frequently develop a literal tummy pain from the anxiety of being concerned about pleasing him with her performance. Part of her anxiety came from listening to him single-out other children in the classroom, to be able to be humiliating public examples of them through pointing out their flaws.

In support of my daughter – both academically and psychologically – I conveyed with this instructor through email on a regular basis. I received great reports about my daughter’s performance from him. Immediately following the start of his extended departure from the classroom due to illness, however, the next quarter report card came out. The teacher had recorded a D- for my daughter’s social studies grade before he left, and had left a note that she”needs to learn to ask for help when she needs it.” This is an insulting insinuation that this teacher knows when, where, and that my daughter ought to be asking for assistance, better than my daughter knows it for herself.

There was no indication in his regular emails to me that she was in need of academic assistance. In actuality, one of his latest mails now was to let me know that my daughter had obtained one of the greatest scores on a math test. Additionally, I observed a very limited amount of social studies content in my kid’s homework. What I did see, I assisted her to finish (specifically, a PowerPoint presentation about Martin Luther King, Jr., in which I encouraged her to include a mention on women’s rights.)

The D- grade and related comment on the report card came out of left field, which is not acceptable, considering the quantity of communication transpiring between the teacher and myself up until there. The strategy employed by the instructor in this regard was a blow to my daughter’s self-esteem, which I needed to work to relieve. She was dismayed upon seeing the grade and the remark, as she had been receiving feedback that she was doing well up until that point. This tactic was unkind.

My daughter’s current long-term substitute teacher regularly and publicly expresses to pupils his dislike for our nation’s president. For instance, my daughter quotes him as saying,”I have lived through (several) presidents, and this one I dislike the most.” Disrespect for our country’s leader isn’t appropriate content for a teacher – who is in a position to influence young minds and viewpoints – to be sharing with 10-year-olds. Irrespective of our personal positions, compulsory schooling should not include political indoctrination in opposition to the President of america. My daughter also reports he raises his voice aggressively class, like by shouting”Silence!” When the class gets noisy. She, as a 10-year-old, has commented that he exhibits a”lack of control” from the classroom. She is wise enough to notice that overt aggression is a sign of internal lack of electricity.

The type of sexist, non-patriotic, competitive, and self-esteem destructive behavior listed here isn’t fitting of people in such a position.

This attendance policy aspect is the last straw in my distaste for the school clinics. I received a letter (several weeks after the post-date, due to my not retrieving my physical mail with regularity in this electronic age) saying that my daughter has too many”excused absences” and that I am required to have a doctor’s note for any future absences. I’m not sending my young daughter to college when she is not feeling well enough to attend school, either physically, mentally, or emotionally. It’s not in her best interest for me to do so, and it is imposing an unreasonable burden on a parent to be asked to go running to the doctor for a note, particularly when the parent knows full well that no doctor’s prescription is required for the ailment. I have consulted with a similarly-minded doctor about it, and am currently gathering community support to address this inability of parents to excuse their own kids without receiving harassment from the school.

Nowhere in these truancy finds is it noted that my daughter regularly goes above and beyond volunteering for school activities, and with my direct support and involvement. She has been part of the morning valet team for the past two school years. She voluntarily participated in the school science fair. She signed up to help with conducting a booth for the school carnival. She has been part of the School Safety Ambassador Club (SSA) for the past two decades, and regularly consults me ways that she could effectively encourage other students in respect to reducing bullying and increasing self-esteem. Is this the type of behavior associated with an at-risk child, in need of truancy intervention?

With the widely reported increase in violence and disruptive behavior on college campuses, and with the lack of teeth in the present school behaviour disciplinary policies, I was strongly considering enrolling my daughter in a homeschool schedule by the time she reached the 7th grade. The 5th grade experience, here, has persuaded me to begin that process as of the beginning of her next school year. There’ll not be a need for the school district to track her school attendance as of the 2018-2019 school year, as she will not be attending the school. I’m enrolling her into a schedule that better nurtures her overall development to a confident, secure, open-minded, conscientious – and female – member of society.

Feeding Beef Cattle

Cow, Allgäu, Beef, Pasture, Animal

One of the most popular questions I believe that every person wanting to begin in raising cattle or even know anything about cattle and cows will ask is,”What do they eat??” The answer to this question is not simple as you may think: What they eat doesn’t just begin and end with grass or hay or grain or a combination of all three! But let’s not settle on the”what.” What about the “why? ” Why do cattle eat or have to eat hay or marijuana? What’s so special about grass and hay that it must be the complete or most common reply to this what-do-they-eat question?

The answer begins and ends with the cow’s digestive system. This means that cows are ruminants, or animals that have their stomach divided into four chambers, the largest being the rumen. Other chambers would be the Reticulum, the Omasum, and the Abomasum. The rumen is capable of holding up to 50 gallons of digesta (that is solids, liquids and even gases), and having a large healthier population of countless microflora to help break down the forages that a cow eats. Cows do not chew the feed or grass they eat when they clamp down on it–they bite then swallow, frequently without chewing much. When they rest, they burp or regurgitate it up to break it down further.

The clincher to the ability of a cow to survive–let alone flourish –on roughage like grass and beans is the bacteria or microflora that live within the cow’s rumen. There are mainly two types of bacteria which exist in the rumen: fibre microbes and starch microbes. The fiber microbes are the most important to a bovine’s digestive system due to their ability to break down and digest fibre in a cow’s diet, regardless what she eats, which is their primary function. Starch microbes are more for when a bovine is consuming grain like corn that contain a lot of starch, and their primary purpose is to break down the starch in the grains, more so than the roughage fibre that comes with such”hot” rations. Unless an animal is on a finishing diet, most cows will have a larger population of fibre microbes in their rumen because of their high forage diets.

Determined by an New York City Wildlife Removal, they have a life-span of 15 minutes and so have a huge turn-over rate. The dead microbes provide the cow much of her protein needs in addition to the protein from the plant sources that by-pass the rumen. End products of this digestive process (such as the synthesization of protein and B vitamins) include volatile fatty acids (VFAs), which provide an energy source for the bunny. Yet he microbes themselves can’t fully operate and live on plant fibre alone. Their nutritional requirements are extremely similar to the nutrition requirements of the creature they live in. They also need water, energy, protein, minerals and vitamins from the plants and nutritional supplements the cow receives on a daily basis so as to function and keep producing subsequent generations of microbes.

There is a reason why a cow will literally starve to death on a diet too high in fiber and too low in protein. A cow’s stomach only has so much space to hold digesta in, so the more poor feedstuffs she eats the fuller her stomach will be and the less she will eat. All that feed she is eating will only stay in her stomach for a long time period or until she gets a decent – to high-protein supplement. When that happens, then the poor quality feed will undergo her system much quicker and she will be able to eat more of that poor feed more frequently. All because those teeny-tiny living organisms just need a boost of protein to help digest all that roughage!

Thus a cow’s ability to be”feed efficient” is dependent on the microbes inside her rumen. The higher the microbial population in her rumen, the more forage can be properly used and digested efficiently. The higher the protein content in the forage or provided by supplements, the more the cow will eat and the greater the microbial population. The greater the microbial population, the more protein and VFAs the cow is going to receive. Put that all together and she’ll gain weight!

Like most of ruminant animals, cows deficiency upper front incisors, though they do have upper molars for grinding and chewing. Her lower front incisors are flat and curved out so she can grasp grass easier. She has a powerful tongue which is used to wrap around a sward of grass, pull it in her mouth and tear it out of its stalks. She chews very briefly, then swallows. When she is resting, she’ll regurgitate it back up and rechew it over again. A cow will create 200 litres of saliva per day–this is so that she can more easily swallow and digest the forage she eats, and provides an ideal environment for the rumen microbes.

Cows can eat what they eat–being grass and hay, among other fodder–due to the four-chambered stomachs, the structure of their mouths and teeth, and most importantly, the microbes that reside in their rumen. Rumen microbes are the most important because they are responsible for breaking down fiber from the plant material that the cow eats. Without them, she would never be able to consume as coarse a plant as grass without some level of detrimental affect to her body and her life.

Obviously, the threat of terrorism, if based on some theology, or emotional issues, is real, and, frequently, somewhat, scary! Is the rhetoric of Mr. Trump, comforting and unifying, or vitriol – based, adversarial and confrontational? Every two years, either the Summer or Winter Olympics, are held, on a rotating basis, and, in these, international adversaries, come together, to attempt to win medals, based on achievements, without regard to their national strengths, etc! Wouldn’t it be nice, if we could all, come together, in real life, like in the Olympics, and be in a position to oppose and compete, in a peaceful manner, instead of the often – vitriolic one, otherwise? Here are 3 compelling aspects, and examples.

1. Competition, but sportsmanship: Rather than threatening others with devastation and annihilation, Olympic competitors seek to do all they could do win, and conquer their competition, but end up, demonstrating sportsmanship, and a highest level of honor, and caring! If just, world leaders, were ready, willing and able, to pursue the maximum level of domestic success, etc, wouldn’t this be a safer, more secure, world? What the world needs now, is love!

2. National soul, and one – world: While there may be numerous individual needs, goals, and priorities, and a useful, nationalistic spirit, etc, leaders must recognize, we share one world, and for that reason, there has to be a spirit of cooperation! One example, is protecting the environment, for the common good, and while many nations have come to understand this, President Trump has been articulate an America – first philosophy, while denying, climate change science! You could not have an Olympics, if any nation, chose, they were taking their ball home, and going – it, alone!

3. They realize, one just wins a medal, if he earns it, by getting the very best! Far too often, we witness federal leaders, focus on personal self – interest, and politics, rather than accepting good – enough!

If the world proceeded, with all the true, Olympic spirit and ideals, there are more, willingness, to agree, to disagree! It is up to the electorate, to demand this, of leaders!

STOP!! Check Your Backseat For Your Kid?!

Photography, Creative, Creativity

As we enter the hottest months of the year, we are reminded of how hot Wildlife Removal Melbourne interior of our cars can actually get. We burn our hands on our steering wheels, seat belts, and chairs.

Unfortunately, this is case for many children annually, especially around this time. Normally, 37 children die each year because of the heat of a car that is shut off. Many of these kids are forgotten, but some manage to get themselves trapped in trunks or get themselves locked in cars. In very few instances, they are purposely left in cars as their caretakers intend on leaving them for just a few minutes, but as you may see, every second counts.

It is also more likely in areas where the overall climate is warmer. So, now in the year it’s more important than ever to spread awareness of the threat of hot cars. But, heat stroke related deaths of children can really happen anytime and anyplace.

The reason that the risk is there is because children’s body temperature rises anywhere from 3 to 5 times faster than the typical body temperature of adults which makes children much more susceptible to heatstroke. Additionally, the temperature of cars can grow up to 20 degrees in 10 minutes that makes kids and unattended cars a dangerous mixture. This also means that heat stroke may occur at outside temperatures as low as 57 degrees, even with the windows open and whether the vehicle is parked in the shade.

Moral of the story: avoid leaving your kid in the car at any cost. Butsometimes if your kids are young it can be easy to forget them that is evidenced by the statistic that 87% of sufferers are under or 3. Experts attribute the prosperity of younger victims to the fact that small children are out of view of the driver, but can also be because they may not be able to speak up because of their young age or increased likelihood that the child would be sleeping.

So, what if you observe a kid trapped in a car? Immediately call the police. Some states even have laws in place that protect you from criminal or civil charges if you break open a window to rescue the child. No promises it will not affect your Illinois auto insurance, if it is your vehicle though. Not all countries have such”Good Samaritan” laws, so proceed with care and your own best judgement.

Sadly, not all states have laws that explicitly say that it is illegal to leave your kid in a vehicle, either. And although a very low proportion of those child casualties are due to purposely leaving children in hot cars, passing legislation may bring more focus to this prevalent issue and save lives.

But, for now, it’s vital to spread awareness and remind parents to double check their cars before leaving it and remind children never to play near cars. Also, keep your eyes peeled and be prepared to act if you happen to come across a trapped child.

Tired Of Your Feelings Controlling You?

Person Human Girl Child Eyes Face Frighten

You might want to think of yourself as a rational being, however, in fact, your life is inspired by Animal Removal Melbourne FL. They inspire decisions, move you to action, or paralyze you in anxiety, anxiety, and fear. They are the basis of your finest memories and the bond that produces deep connections with other people. In this guide, we will explore four principles for skillfully working with your emotions and three tips to handle intense feelings like anxiety, anger, and sadness when they threaten to overwhelm you.

It is possible to feel anxious one minute, angry the next, and then have waves of despair flood through you apparently out of nowhere. Because they can take you on such wild rides, it is natural to be somewhat wary of strong emotions – and do what you can to avoid them or keep them at bay.

You’ve seen what can happen when so-called”negative” emotions like anger, anxiety, and sadness overwhelm you or others. You have memories of unskillful expressions of those feelings you wish you could forget. Images of emotional trauma are stored deep in your subconscious, warning you to be cautious once you feel these emotions yourself or witness them in different folks.

In the face of vulnerable feelings, a more logical approach may feel safer. It’s easier to focus on your thoughts and not venture into the scary world of feelings. Yet, reason has its limitations. You may think you’re more rational than you are. While you can logically weigh choices or consider different thoughts, the final”Yes this” and”Not that” arises from what”feels right.” Even when you’re focused on thinking rather than feeling, in the end, your decisions and actions are based on your”gut feelings.”

Because emotions are so closely connected to actions and decisions, in addition to being connected to threatening memories along with your most powerful inspirations and interpersonal connections, it’s important to understand how to manage them skillfully. Let’s explore four principles for relating to feelings in a mindful, intentional, and empowered way. Practicing these principles grows your Emotional Intelligence, which is a skillset for managing emotions well.

Four Principles to Deal with Emotions Skillfully

1.

While your first inclination when you are feeling overwhelmed by uncomfortable feelings, such as fear, anger, and sadness, may be to distract yourself, downplay the feeling, or run away, this just causes emotions to go underground, into your subconscious mind, where they’re saved as strain on your body, eat away at your peace of mind, and eventually surface as sickness. Repressed emotions are the cornerstone of compulsions and bad habits, in addition to the source of overwhelm and flareups in relationships. You need to address them.

Emotions arise to offer you specific details on what is happening inside you, around you, and with others-and this information will stick with you until it’s acknowledged and heeded. Thus, it’s important to shift your perspective out of fear of emotions to seeing them as helpful guides. Emotions arise with information you need about your life and the ability to do it on this information. Thus, the number one principle of handling emotions is to stop ignoring them and listen to what they must show you.

What are the sensations happening inside your skin? Especially, notice any areas of current discomfort, as these hold important clues to what you need to know and do today.

If you’re not accustomed to checking in like this, you may not feel much at all or you may feel strong aversion to feeling distress. Stay present with whatever feeling or lack of sense is there. Attention to feelings requires practice. It is a real skill you can learn. Remember, if you do not listen to what your emotions are trying to tell you, they get stuck on repeat and keep cycling through you.

2. Mindfulness of everything you feel shifts your connection to it.

Mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment. When extreme feelings arise, instead of immediately trying to do something about them, take time to witness, listen to, and feel them. This action of mindfulness brings new neural connections into your habitual emotional patterns which allows them to shift. You bring a layer of awareness to your emotions which changes how they impact you.

Mindfulness releases you from being”gripped by” your emotions in a way that”takes you over.” You get freedom and space within and around the feelings you”have,” by recognizing that feelings do not define”who you are.” They’re only information about what is happening inside you, around you, and others.

3.

Knowing that all feelings are transient is reassuring when emotions run strongly or cycle repetitively. Emotions arise with a purpose and recede as you discover their message and use their energy appropriately. When you shine the light of awareness on your emotions, you can see what they have to show you, take appropriate action, and allow them to release.

4.

As soon as you’ve tuned into the sensation of an emotion in your body, ask it what message it’s for you. What’s this feeling telling you about how you’re relating to a circumstance, to yourself, and with others?

Given this information, what actions would be useful for yourself and others?

Because we aren’t generally taught to recognize the significance in emotions, we often overlook, ignore, or prevent their messages. When we do this, emotional energy builds into overblown high play to get our attention. It’s like our emotions say,”O.K. you didn’t get the message in my civil indoor voice, so I’m going to yell it in you.” You then feel extreme anger, overwhelming sadness, or anxiety that is through the roof.

When emotion has amped up to that point, it can be useful to bring it down a notch to a manageable level. A few simple actions can help you do this.

3 Tips to Handle Intense Emotions

1.

Stop what you are doing, close your eyes, and concentrate on slow, deep, gentle breathing, in and out through your nose. Closing your eyes and engaging in this type of breathing activates your body’s natural relaxation response, which will help dissipate the pressure, energy, and intensity of powerful emotions.

2. Feel the feeling of the emotion in your body.

Notice where the emotion is located in your body. Feel the quality of feeling there. Noticing feelings as sensations helps you witness them more objectively, so you obtain space from what you are feeling.

3. Adopt the mindful perspective of a curious observer and question the emotion as if it’s a friend who wants to tell you something important.

Bear in mind that Mindfulness means paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment. With this mindset, ask your emotion questions, as if it’s a friend who’s attempting to give you valuable information and you’re a scientist seeking discovery.

When you follow these tips, you change your perspective and take the”over-the-top” extreme edge from what you’re feeling. Intense anger may downshift to a firm”no,” intense sadness can mellow into”letting go,” and high anxiety can settle into a motivating spur to action.

After a feeling has downshifted in intensity, it’s easier to listen to it, feel it, and react appropriately. You can take action to deal with the current situation. You can set boundaries, release what no longer serves you, and prepare for uncertain circumstances.

The bottom line is that, rather than fearing the emotional intensity of fear, anger, and sadness, see if you’re able to move toward those feelings with a mindful, inquisitive attitude. As you do this, notice how they shift and guide you to what you need to do right now.

Cardio Fitness for the Aged Person

Yoga, App, Iphone, Mobile Phone

One should understand the pressure put on the heart and lungs by overweight and lack of exercise. Both these are pertinent to Palm Bay Squirrel Removal that are over 70 years since many are inclined to sit back, eat more, and indulge themselves in table games , like me, on the pc. This was completely unexpected and minding that voice was the best thing.

That voice inside is well-known to me because of memory of reincarnation and link to the Universal Spirit, the real God. It’s given me a job to do this is the reason I spend long hours at the computer. Over the past 30 years or so exercise involved just garden maintenance and walks, apart from house work.

The command was received and a local gym for girls only received me with open arms. Aside from a fortnightly fee of $38, well affordable on a retirement, there are PT courses which include one for healthy heart. It is held twice a week and is basically very enjoyable.

The exercises are easy and over the span of 45 minutes involve small weights, measures, and ball movements, such as throwing and catching. Sometimes there is also some square dance type movements that assist with balance. Stretching and flexing of muscles has become a daily routine with me.

On the other days the fitness center provides all forms of equipment for people who want to work-out. For me the bike is my favourite although many use the walking and rowing machines. Other equipment allows stretching of muscles in the neck, back, and legs, which I also find useful.

Building up muscles which have disappeared over the years of inactivity is one of my accomplishments and having the ability to get up from the ground when I fall over is another.

It is something for elderly people to consider. The additional benefit for me has been the great friends made while exercising – a real incentive.
